Creating your first page
Your web pages can be created using
- A word processor or text editor
- Web authoring software
- Desk top publishing software
- Online web page builder Home Page Maker or EzHTML
You will also need:
Note: Web authoring software and some word processors have built in ftp.
Uploading your pages
- Go to uxbridge20.com services, click on Enable webspace.
- Disconnect your connection until you are ready to upload.
- Open your web authoring software or word processor and create a test page.
- From the menu, choose to publish or upload your page(s) to the web. You will need to know your upload address (ftp.your account name.uxbridge20.com), and your password. For more detailed ftp instructions check out uxbridge20.com faqs.
- When you save your word processor pages scroll through the 'Save As Type' menu and select HTML your pages will now be saved with a .htm suffix.
- Titles are case and space sensitive e.g. typing 'PAGEONE.HTM' or 'pageone.htm', would not find your page if it was titled ' PAGE ONE.HTM' or 'page one.htm'.
- Be sure to title your home page ' index.htm'. You can use any name for subsequent pages providing you end them with a .htm.
- If you have problems uploading or finding your website you can email Uxbridge20.com support for free technical advice.
Note: Web authoring software and some word processors will automatically title the first page you create as index.htm when it is uploaded.
